Re: the Remoska

I have one. It's just a little oven. So one option is to cook one of the Cooking with the Remoska recipes in your oven. I could even cook the same recipe in my Remoska and we could compare the results.

Thank you so much for the mention on your site and the comment on here. That's really kind of you. The blog is forcing me to cook at least something new every week (have been very lazy in the past!) and the fact that people like yourself are enjoying reading about it is a lovely bonus really - I'll plough on!

Hello! I can't remember if I've ever posted a comment on here or not but I LOVE your writing and the cooking experiments you're doing. I'm also addicted to books, which doesn't hurt!
I completely forgot to come over here and mention it, but you were one of my top 5 blogs on my Liebster Award post the other day - http://duckingfabulous.co.uk/2012/01/12/share-the-love/ :) So please keep it up, it always makes me smile when I open Google Reader and find there's a new post from that's your lot :)

Really? Wow. Sorry for delay in replying, been off-line blogging for a few weeks. Back on the case now! Will keep you updated as to how I get on. Looking forward to reading the book now, may have a sneaky peek soon as you have recommended it. Any idea why it's so hard to get hold of?

Hi Laura,

It is a sad day; I was enjoying following your progress with the recipes and shall miss seeing the results online but can totally understand your concern about your waistbands!
Ever since I tweeted that the pictures you posted were NOT of macaroons, I've felt bad. As you say yourself, they seem much more little mini bakewell tarts. Was the Be-Ro cookbook a US publication I wonder?
Anway, to make amends I would like to offer you my late aunty's true Macaroon recipe which she used to make way back in the 50's and before, and probably got from my grandma who'd have been baking them even before then. They've been part of my family for so long that we don't often share the recipe but here you go:

4 0z (sorry no metric measures) Caster Sugar
4 0z Ground Almonds
1 teaspoon Ground Rice
White of 1 egg
Mix above dry ings and beat with white of egg. Put teaspoonful of mixture on rice paper. Place 1/2 an almond on top before cooking.
Bake on middle shelf of oven Reg 4 for 15 - 20 mins

Maybe your swan song?

Regards
Dilys

Thank you for reading the blog. Glad you like it. Had heard of a few of the authors, but didn't already own any of the books. My collection mainly consisted of a few Jamie Olivers, Nigella's and a Delia so is fab to try out recipes from books that aren't even published anymore. What's also good is that I've discovered many of the smaller books produced by supermarkets can have a few very easy but tasty recipes in. I don't always want to be that extravagant with cooking with tonnes of ingredients that I don't normally have at home, but do like to be inspired to create simple stuff too. Hope you continue reading!

Hello, love your blog. 85 cook books - wow. How many of them had you heard of when you started looking through them?. I thought that I had a lot (most of them by the same author) but your new collection makes me look a bit shabby!. I shall look forward to reading more from you.
